The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will partner the Education Ministry to pilot two parenting programmes to primary and secondary schools from mid-2014.

This was announced by Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Low Yen Ling on Tuesday. She was speaking at an appreciation lunch at Orchard Hotel, organised for schools which have conducted over 100 hours of family life education programmes for parents and students in the last financial year.

The two new evidence-based programmes are named Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P) and Signposts. These programmes have helped to improve children's behaviours and reduce parenting stresses by providing parents with practical tools to encourage positive behaviour in their children.

Parents participating in the pilot will receive support through various avenues such as seminars, individual consultations and group sessions to best suit their individual needs. MSF will assess the effectiveness of the pilot through studies with the schools and parents.
