Top Five Nightspots in Singapore

Singapore may have a reputation for being prim and proper (yes, everyone remembers the no chewing gum rule), but that doesn’t mean the people here are not into partying. Here are FSH’s top 5 choices for the party animal in you:

1.Clarke Quay

We’re not just putting this as the top of the list because that's where we are located. We choose to be located here for a very good reason, it's the centre of all Singaporean nightlife. A wide variety of clubs and bars line the picturesque Singapore River, providing party-goers with liquids and grub late into the night.

2.Orchard Road

Singapore's famous shopping belt is also home to a pulsating nightlife scene. Emerald Hill, a tucked-away strip flanked by elegant Perenakan row houses, is the place to go for atmospheric pubs and bars with chilled-out alfresco lounges and tasty cocktails. Further at the other end of Orchard road, Orchard Towers has four floors full of girlie bars and clubs with live music and dance shows – imagine an entire red-light zone housed in one building. For a touch of sophistication, try Brix at the luxurious Grand Hyatt, Marriott's Bar None, Indochine at Wisma Atria or head for boisterous fun at Irish pub Muddy Murphy's at the basement of Orchard Hotel.

3.Zouk

Even though Zouk is located slightly away from downtown or any MRT stations, this hugely popular club, which has been compared with some of the best in Europe, plays mainly House music to a mostly young crowd. Zouk’s music is spun by its seven resident DJs, while regular live acts from visiting artistes – such as Galliano, Chemical Brothers, Heart and Kylie Minogue — are an added draw. Wednesday is Mambo Jambo night, when the club shakes off its techno garb and plays a mix of 70s to 90s pop.

4.Club Street

Club Street got its name from the various Chinese clubs sited on this street in the olden days, but the area around Club St and Ann Siang Hill has seen many upmarket restaurants and bars mushrooming in recent years. These watering holes mainly cater to expats and affluent locals. Many of the second-floor bars and clubs in the area are also gay-friendly, so look out for the rainbow flags.

5.Dempsey Hill

Ground zero for the city’s new breed of night life is the Dempsey Hill neighborhood. Where army barracks once stood surrounded by tropical jungle, bars and restaurants have been sprouting at a breakneck pace. The result combines a laid-back atmosphere with alfresco settings, all just a few miles from downtown. Try PS-Cafe, Hacienda or CPMB
