远东广场以中国风水的阴阳五行为设计概念，广场周围的大门采用金、木、水、火、土的图案，多处还保留着早年的建筑特色，外观深具流行感，玻璃顶棚自然采光，广场内明亮宽敞，融合了传统与现代手法。除了可爱的餐厅、咖啡店、纪念品店，还参杂了庙宇、书院、店屋等历史建筑，使广场充满了韵味。

厦门街（Amoy Street）
　　
广场正中央是厦门街（Amoy Street），两旁仍然保留了整排的店屋，在厦门街1到4号的店屋上可见象征纯洁的莲花装饰，白墙搭配红色窗子，典雅喜气；在9号可看到凤凰立体雕饰， 象征浴火重生和不朽；位于131号的萃英书院，是1854年福建仕绅兴建的义学，让穷困的孩子能有机会上学，到1954年为止，嘉惠了许多学童，如今书院 外观仍妥善保存，内部为餐厅。
　　
福德祠（Fuk Tak Chi Museum）
　　
福德祠建于1824年，是新加坡第一间中国寺庙，由客家和广东移民合力打造，感谢土地公的保佑，让他们从家乡平安渡海到新加坡。祠堂如今改为博物馆，展列早期移民的日常用品与当年生活样貌。走出福德祠，转往Telok Ayer Street可发现陈福成饼家（Tan Hock Seng Cake Shop）。这家饼铺已经有60多年历史，招牌产品是传统福建高点和饼干，如发粿、红龟粿、马蹄酥等，生意很好，经常大排长龙。
　　
应和馆
　　
1822年才创立，直到1872年才在现址兴建，是客家人自发成立的会馆，主要为粤东移民介绍职业并联络感情，1999年被列为新加坡43个古迹建筑之一，天井和走廊是最大的建筑特色。
